About Amma's South Indian Cuisine ( BAR & GRILL)
FINE DINING RESTAURANT & BAR
Drawing from the rich traditions of South India, Amma's South Indian Restaurant brings a taste of home to the West. Amma, meaning "mother," is more than a nameโit's the philosophy behind every dish. We believe that healthy living starts with healthy eating, so we prepare our food with the same care and dedication a mother gives her family. You won't find artificial colors, flavor enhancers, and unhealthy additives here. We serve food that is naturally nourishing and delicious, just as it should be.

This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Philadelphia follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

In Philadelphia for some R&R. Of course we had to eat too. Always on the lookout to eat someplace new. Walked around and happened upon this nice looking place. Who wouldn't be down for some good Indian cuisine? Amma's met the challenge. We were seated promptly. The interior was very pretty and relaxing. The gentle music lends to the overall atmosphere. Very beautiful decor. The lighting just right. Our server was very polite and courteous. Appetizers: Vegetable samosa and Gobi Manchurian (Spicy Cauliflower). Served with a glass of Reisling. Entrees: Non-veg Couples Combo. Everything was delicious. I really loved the parotta. Very flaky. Ended with very refreshing cocktails: a Lychee & Ginger (w/Tequila) and Ice Mount (Coconut, Mint, and Tequila).

Food: we ordered the Idly vada sambar, Amma Special dosa, and onion rava masala dosa. The food was very good. I would say the best south Indian food I've had in a very long time. Service: the staff was very friendly and nice. Atmosphere: overall was a very nice place, clean and felt modern. It was not your usual south Indian restaurant but felt more upscale. If you are in the Philly area would highly recommend a visit. Liked it so much we also went there on our last day of the trip.

Saw that an Ammaโs opened and said our city so I had to go and check it out! Food: 5/5. Our food came came out quickly, and it was all so very delicious. The portions were big and we found that the prices were reasonable! Service: 5/5. The service was absolutely incredible. Our waiter was so attentive and kind. Quite literally every time we drank water, he came back to refill as soon as possible. He was very friendly and I thought he did a very good job! The food came out very quickly, and the hostess was very friendly as well. Atmosphere: 5/5. I absolutely love the atmosphere. The interior is a very dark ambience, and it is beautifully decorated with various rooms having different, unique, but equally beautiful decor. Overall, I highly recommend checking out this new opened Indian restaurant in Center City for an elevated dining experience!

Mounica at the friend was so kind and helpful with the order. And the food is touch wood took me straight to south India ๐ฎ๐ณ authentic taste freshly made at kitchen, unlike some Indian restaurants who give you frozen week long stale sauces. Being Indian I could really tell the food was made fresh and tasty. Specially egg tokku if u like boiled egg with Indian gravy this is the one. Filter coffee must must try. Add two Splenda for the real flavor. Tried tiffin combo was tasty as well. Will definitely come back :)
